The blatant selling of pardons is perhaps the clearest instance of criminal conduct authorized by SCOTUS. Pardons are a quintessential "official act." So, even when Trump takes a bribe to issue one, he is presumably above the criminal law.

Ellis repeatedly accuses multiple CBP and ICE officials of lying (under oath) and says their "widespread misrepresentations call into question everything" they "say they are doing in their characterization of what is happening." She broadly discredits their testimony as objectively false.
U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis just handed down the written opinion version of her preliminary injunction order, regarding use of force by federal agents in Chicago.

It's the one already put on hold by the 7th Circuit.

It's 233 pages.

As with Charlie Kirk, Republicans are fiercely loyal to the general idea of Donald Trump but will furiously refuse to grapple with anything specific that he actually says or does.
I didn't see the tweet. I didn't hear the comment. I didn't watch the speech.

Republicans have been feigning ignorance about their mad king for eight years now.

not just that he has no constitutional authority, there isn't even any particular legal or institutional mechanism by which the president can make anyone treat this as anything other than a weird advisory opinion.
This “explicit” is a weird editorial choice. The constitution gives the president no power over this at all. It’s not ambiguous.

This guy's a vet and a lawyer who threw a sandwich and offered to turn himself in, so they sent a paramilitary platoon with a camera crew.

They have FBI and U.S. Marshal badges; apparently those agencies do no real work beyond camera stunts, harassing minorities, and filling concentration camps.
The White House posted an insane video of the police arresting the sandwich guy in a safe and wealthy neighborhood.

I think the extent to which institutions like the FBI survive after Trumpism with any respect or authority depends on the men and women serving there and what they do during Trumpism. The more that cooperate, the more likely the FBI will decline permanently and will no longer enjoy the respect /1..
I used to respect the FBI and its agents. Hell, when I was in college I debated whether or not to apply to the academy. Probably wouldn’t have gotten in but the idea was there. But no more. I have to think most of the agents left are goose stepping brown shirts who delight in crap like this.
