'Official' game preservation efforts are good and should be encouraged when they happen. But that's still relying on corporations and the absurdly rich to care about the history of art and the medium. For the most part, that's not going to happen.

The Sega Channel recovery efforts would not ever happen under Sega. Likely *could* not, given how many corporations (some of them defunct or absorbed) were involved in the process.
