Really excited to share our latest work led by @mattiaubertini.bsky.social and @nesslfy.bsky.social: we report that cohesin loop extrusion creates rare but long-lived encounters between genomic sequences which underlie efficient enhancer-promoter communication.

Nobel laureate Jennifer Doudna tells Jeffrey Goldberg that vaccinations have been so successful that "there's been a collective forgetting that measles, and mumps, and rubella—these used to be diseases that would kill people in fairly large numbers." #TAF25 bit.ly/46a5DUE

Matthew McConaughey says he wants a private LLM, fed only with his books, notes, journals, and aspirations, so he can ask it questions and get answers based solely on that information, without any outside influence.

Congrats to all winners! A quick consideration as 🇮🇹 researcher. Italians get 11,5% of all StG (55/478, 2nd top after DE): Italian scientists are top level! Italy itself gets 6.2% of all grants (30/378, jumping to 7th after DE, UK, NL, FR, CH, BE). Italy, why do you like to seed but not to harvest?

“Over the past 20 years, Paris has undergone a major physical transformation, trading automotive arteries for bike lanes, adding green spaces and eliminating 50,000 parking spaces.

Part of the payoff has been invisible — in the air itself.”

Leadership, strategy, real action, common sense. #Paris
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

Final year PhD students, I know you’re desperately trying to finish experiments/revisions/submissions/write a thesis & just survive - but please spare a few minutes to apply to your dream postdoc labs.

It easily takes A YEAR from first contact, even if everything goes to plan on both sides.

I mean, it's nice to have a Wikipedia page. Even nicer to have a Wikipedia page devoted to something named after you. But it's hard to beat a Wikipedia page devoted to simply *listing* things that are named after you.

I just got the notice that all the FlyBase people at Harvard, including me, will be laid off on October 12. I'm devastated.

Thanks! Looking forward to hear opinions. I tried to be as simple as possible. I hope it didn't became too banal.
