Father, partner, engineer, sometimes Go player, used to write and take photos.

He/him.
I didn't realize when I first saw this photo that he was pouting because someone else was getting all the attention.
incredible photo that's definitely worth at least 1,000 words from Andrew Harnik of Getty

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Before Obamacare, being a woman was a pre-existing condition, including coverage denial for domestic violence, contraception, pregnancy, and certain cancers. You could be charged more for insurance premiums just for being female. It was called a 'gender rating'.

40 million Americans may go hungry in November because their SNAP funding is at risk.

40 million people at a time when most are already struggling to put food on the table.

Trump just gave 40 billion to Argentina.

That could feed every American.

That could easily fund SNAP.

America first?

We don't really know what happened after we let them take that away.

Pete Hegseth, constantly paranoid about someone in the Pentagon talking to the press about the crazy shit he’s doing on a daily basis, issues a new set of rules for the media restricting access to the building. Why are they constantly trying to hide everything from the public?

In some ways, this is more horrifying than the horrors themselves.
Yesterday I walked w/ a really bright, engaged student. They--not enby, obscuring ID--knew *nothing* about what's happening. It came up in passing, but like a good student they asked questions. They were horrified. Nothing in their world was informing them. I've had this conversation many times.

This part stuck out to me because it appears the issue is right wingers continually breaking further from reality, requiring the invention of new outlets willing to follow the trend. The way the Facebook groups continually ended up banning and splitting off shows it too.

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism.

If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone.

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

Kinda insane and shows how afraid the networks are of upsetting this administration that a guy who killed 7 people and wounded 48 with “47” literally tattooed on his face has all but been forgotten like there’s still not a very serious threat emanating from every pore of this pathetic cult

Republicans, Independents, and Democrats all want reforms. Trump tapped into people’s rightful anger on one thing: for too many, the status quo wasn’t working.

But the answer isn’t to burn it all down. It’s time to build something new that *actually* delivers on the promise of the American dream.

Good day to remember that DOGE has already lost the US government at least half a trillion dollars this year alone. And likely more.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

The long answer is that everyone used “fascist” postwar to describe coercive state power in ways that felt oppressive to them. Liberals used it for Reagan. Segregationists used it for civil rights advocates. Soviets used it to describe the West.

The short answer is that we were right about Trump.
I am not blaming Democrats for Republicans becoming fascists. I am blaming people who overused "fascist" for years for removing the power of that word and gutting it of meaning, and making it useless now that we need it.
Something I warned would happen.
