After Christmas, it’s not uncommon to see spent firs, spruces and pines strewn across Philly sidewalks, destined for the landfill.

Your tree could get a second life instead, benefitting city gardens, trails and even goats ↓

Your Philly Christmas tree could get a second life as snacks for goats, wood chips and more
Christmas trees don’t have to be left for curbside trash collection, where they are destined for the landfill.

This is a pretty dope year, TBH.
When the clock strikes midnight on January 1, creative works from 1930 & sound recordings from 1925 will enter the public domain in the US, like:

💄 Dizzy Dishes, first Betty Boop cartoon
🕵️♀️ First 4 Nancy Drew novels
🚂 The Little Engine That Could
🎩 Morocco
🍑 Georgia on My Mind
and many more!

Please answer the questions in this thread:
The article you’re sharing touts a teacher making students use “A.i.” to design ugly sweaters. That’s a repugnant use of tech based on theft to rob kids of the chance to use their own minds and hands to actually draw. Do you support that attack on human creativity?

70% of Americans in new Marist poll say prices have jumped so much that life is unaffordable--including 50% of Republicans. Yet what is Trump focused on? Renaming the Kennedy Center after himself, naming US navy ships after himself, his $400 million ballroom and starting a war with Venezuela.

The whole administration definitely comes off like a narcissistic/alcoholic (well, Wiles named it and Trump agreed!) family system. incredibly dysfunctional. And then, we're all stuck in its extended branches. The ambient abuse alone is toxic as hell.

It’s one thing to believe in the abstract that authoritarian, fascist, or personalist regimes displace expertise for loyalty, it’s entirely a different thing to watch it happen all over the place in your country.

I think it's pretty clear by now that Pope Leo would not have called the 2024 election a choice between two evils as Pope Francis disgustingly did. In fact, I think Pope Leo voted for Kamala Harris based on what we can tell from his voting history. We're in good hands in the Catholic Church.

They think writers can be replaced because they don't understand what writing is effective, yes, but don't discount the desire to cut human labor out of the process entirely, not just for "cost savings" but because the management class and especially the investor class just fucking hate humans.
Is that why people think that ChatGPT and other AI(?) could replace authors - the people in management can't recognize good writing and so assume that no one else can, either? It seems like that would quickly be dismissed witjh any sort of beta readership, but.

I can't think of a single restaurant I miss more than the classic Pizza Hut situation from when I was a kid. You got your own little pizza. You didn't have to pay for it because you read books, which seemed magical to me because I read everything anyway. They had video games. It looked fancy.
