At the top of this tower in Osaka is one of Japan's more interesting gods--Billiken, the God of Things As They Ought to Be.
Rubbing his feet is said to bring good luck. I love the omnipresent THINGS AS THEY. Miyuki and I made a pilgrimage there once. I still carry Billiken's omamori with me.

In a lifetime of reading comic books, I've yet to come across two more shocking pages of superhero action than those in Marvel Two-In-One #3 (May 1974). At the very least, it left a turn of phrase indelibly impressed upon my young mind that I think of practically every day: "Get Hip, Schweinhunds!"

Just spent 100+ minutes recording a podcast for my friend about this painting (The Lament For Icarus - by Herbert Draper) the idea was that it would be a real slog to record but I can yap about it forever, might not be worth listening to.

Exactly right, the implicit argument being made by OP is that one group's sensitivities matter more than another's. Fair enough I suppose but maybe make it explicit.
And if we want to reduce it to slogans and semantics (see the whipped-up outrage vis a vis Mamdani and "globalize the intifida"), what does just "Israel has a right to defend itself" mean to millions of Palestinians, Lebanese, Iranians, Yemenis, etc?

He doesn't suddenly become good because of the charity & mercy that Bishop Myriel had granted him. He steals a meager coin - not even a quantifiable percentage of the stolen/given loot in his sack - from a little, needy, crying child. 8/
