Apparently, ICE has set up a website to trap individuals attempting to do the right thing. Please exercise caution.

You don't go to school/college/university to be told stuff. You go to be taught the state of the field, how to tell good info from bad, how to evaluate input, etc etc etc. That is thinking. Without education there is just input with no thought. That is precisely how we got here. And here sucks.

This is my thread of posts tracking the "Chicago Flips Red" group. This is a group of mostly Black Republicans, that numbers only *maybe* 10 people, who have been used to create a narrative that Chicagoans want ICE, the National Guard, and Trump.
I think he might actually be talking about that garbage "Chicago Flips Red" organization, which is spearheaded by Black women. Have they actually been saying things like this lately, after LA & DC? I wouldn't put it past them.
Trump: After we do this, we will go to another location and make it safe too. Chicago is a mess. That will probably be our next one after this. They are screaming for us to come. African American ladies, beautiful ladies are saying "Please President Trump, come to Chicago, please."

Sheryl's basic rules for protesting.

(This isn't legal advice. The whole point is to NOT need me. Also, if you're a person who won't suffer any harm from going to a protest no matter what you do, congratulations! Most people aren't so privileged, and stop thinking you're the default.)
The abjectly pathetic appeal to POW status is part of a truly frustrating aspect of MAGA. Trump and other minions have spit in the face of veterans. Shit on Gold Star families, insult real POWs, gut VA, etc. And not even that is a dealbreaker for these so-called patriots. Ethically hollow people.

Everyone who thinks Trump is an aberration instead of a culmination is rationalizing their own shitty politics.
Congratulations to Barry Goldwater. It was the longest gestation in history but your baby has finally been born.
Sure is Hitlery out there in the Grand Old Party
EXCLUSIVE: Capitol Police are investigating a swastika found in GOP Rep. Dave Taylor’s office.

“The content of that image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or myself, and I condemn it in the strongest terms," Taylor said in a statement.

At the Third U.S. Congress against War and Fascism in 1936, Langston Hughes declared: “Fascism is a new name for that kind of terror the Negro has always faced in America. . . . This kind of terrorism is extending more and more to groups of peoples whose skins are not black.”

Holy shit. This is Angelo Elia, a legislative correspondent for Congressman Dave Taylor.

According to @rooster.info, during a Zoom meeting today, he had an American nazi flag displayed in the background.
Some days, seems like that's all I do. Where's my Nobel Peace Prize?

the hell in which american jewry is now trapped — everything is antisemitism except actual antisemitism
Old enough to remember when kids being anti-semitic was the basis for a federal government assault on higher education
People capable of introspection don't work at the Free Press.
Ditto Thomas Crooks. Inconveniently a registered Republican, vocal antisemite, and xenophobe.
And he's stopped the ridiculous hair coloring. Someone's feeling mortal...

This is an intentional framing choice that can easily be avoided if one wants to avoid it!
really do genuinely feel that our local press needs to find a better word than clash for interactions between federal agents armed to the teeth with chemical munitions and actual guns and some neighbors who are yelling and maybe throwing found objects. not even delving into protests facing the same.

I know the temptation is to just scroll past this with a “not surprised” reaction, but you should read this if you have the emotional bandwidth to encounter horrifying slurs and violent sentiments, because there’s an important takeaway: extremism is often performed to reinforce an in-group’s bond.
POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

And you will be photographed. Count on it.
Please be conscious if you protest this weekend that there are feds at the protest. They look like you and they sound like you, not like Steve Buscemi in that one clip with the skateboard. Thinking you can spot them is self delusion. Nobody you haven’t met needs to know your last name.

Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

UPDATE: I saw it happen! At the Birds Canada research station at the tip of Long Point I watched an expert ever-so-gently and carefully put one of these tiny tags on a monarch. Let me walk you through the steps (1/4)
So cool to visit the Motus workshop at Birds Canada headquarters. The Motus community is studying the movement of birds, bats and insects. This tiny radio telemetry device will fit on a Monarch butterfly 😲 #invertebrates #birds 🌿 www.birdscanada.org/bird-science...
Brown wood-sided building with a wi Dow and a door. Sign above the door says, “Motus Workshop and Research Laboratory”. Tiny antenna with a rectangular box on the end. The whole thing is on an open hand and is about 5cm long. Orange and black butterfly on purple flowers.
Don't even need a poker face if you don't care that everyone knows what's in your hand.
