The DOJ released a memo--the day after World AIDS Day--ordering prisons to enable the rape of incarcerated trans women.

The State Department also banned recognition of World AIDS day.

Prison rape, on top of the lifelong trauma, often leads to HIV transmissions.

It's not hard to do the math.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

What we're not gonna do is give up on Texas. It is not a red state, it is a vote suppressed and gerrymandered state. Our job now in caring for each other is to find out how we can help get out the vote in Texas. I suggest following @andreagrimes.com

We saw a district in Tennessee engineered to be R+22 swing to be ~R+13 this week. I'm betting a bunch of those new districts in Texas don't have that kind of margin to lose. When we empower Texans to vote, the GOP bites it, so let's take care of Texans, y'all.

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

One of the most common replies in any discussion of universal basic income is "but how do we pay for it?" and not once do those same people ever question the costs incurred by not doing UBI. We spend $1.5 trillion every year on the costs of child poverty alone. Poverty ain't free, folks. WE ALL PAY.

I'm disappointed in the Girl Guides and the WI for caving to this, but I'm *furious* with the transphobes and the supreme court and the EHRC and the government for causing this situation, when even trans inclusive institutions are throwing people out.

"How will I respond to terrible injustice?" has ONLY ONE RIGHT ANSWER and if a person or organization fails that simple test, there's one obvious conclusion you can make about them.

Added to this, if you're a trans inclusive group wanting to do green woodworking or forest bathing or permaculture or naked drum circles (look, i work in a hippie field, sorry) or what-fucking-ever, you come to us and we will keep you safe. Promise.
Just to say, apropos of nothing, we don't allow trans-exclusive groups to set up at Nantymeillion to do things (things being wild women camps or womens drumming workshops). This has come up in the past. If your "feminist" group excludes trans women you can go somewhere else. We don't want you.

This is genuinely massive, like earth-shakingly big in terms of pushing back the anti-trans exclusion drive.

The anti-trans movement have lost a case they didn't expect to lose and really couldn't afford to.

I can't imagine them not appealing (near infinite money) but now the precedent exists.
