In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

If you believe that Dem leadership is fighting for you, ask them what they did when the Supreme Court took away the human rights of 50% of the nation, when two thirds of Americans disagreed with the Court’s decision, and we had the presidency. More than 3 years later. Ask how they’ve fought.

Senate leaders are truly 'first among equals', and only have so much leverage for obstreperous members in their party caucus. This is by design, since they serve 6 year terms and only really answer to their state's elite. Plus, most of them can afford to just bail, like Sinema & Manchin did.
Those people are compromised. They were never going to vote on our side in the end, no matter how good or bad the leadership. And there are a few others, who would have "filled in" if the GOP hadn't had enough.

While I agree we need to move Schumer along, this was not the point of failure here.

Lesson drawn from Nuremberg and the Nazis I suspect.

Good morning #ttrpg folks! Thank you for the amazing launch for #AW3rd! Y’all have pushed us so far over the stretch goal for the digital e-zine of additional materials we’re going to have to think about what might come next. It’s a lovely day! Let’s see where this thing can go!

When I was nearly 19, Sweet Honey In The Rock came to my college, and a friend insisted I come to the show. I mostly enjoyed it, but I don't recall anything about it now–except this song, which has profoundly affected my thinking ever since and still moves me to tears.

I think a better phrasing for this would be “the public isn’t swayed by anti trans rhetoric.”

A lot of us certainly do care about trans issues, but we are firmly on the opposite side of the GOP.

I don't think it's even right to say the voting public doesn't care. I think the truth is a lot of voters may generally find trans identity moderately confusing but also *none of their business*.

on the other hand, they find an obsession with harming trans people - say it with me - deeply weird.
Spanberger’s GOP foe spent 57% of her ad budget on anti-trans attacks. Spanberger focused on the economy. You see what won. trib.al/fkMmsR4

The simple truth told time and time again in the polls: The public doesn’t care about trans issues. Voters care deeply about the economy, inflation, & prices.

So I walked up to the loudmouth and asked them if they thought starving kids was cool. Loudly.

No was their answer. So I asked them if starving the parents of these kids was cool? Was starving our elders cool? They said no again.

So I asked them what they were going to do to help these people
