Hello new followers! I'm your auntie who likes to remind you that you are enough.

I swear, I knit, I read and write romance and read almost anything, I am chronically ill. I post about anything and everything and fangirl over BTS and many other kpop groups. Kindness matters. Remember that.

one of the gofundme campaigns sent to me today is only trying to raise $1,600 and has a horrific story of an experience of a Hmong elder.

they've only raised $10.

I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

She didn't sing it to me in rhyming couplets ("if he'll drive you to the criming he's a fed *clap clap*) but the thrust was very similar: if someone shows up in your group wanting to do a lot of violence, assume that person is there to get you in trouble. This remains a good rule of thumb.

Today's "Mr L is sick and my chronic illnesses are all flaring at the same time" lunch is Pacific's butternut squash soup with gf cheese tortellini mixed in.

I am so glad we bought a stool for the kitchen so I can sit while cooking.

So to sum up: ancient fact - we can identify brothels by floor-plans and artwork, but they are not usually associated with mass infant remains.

Contemporary fact: JD Vance is a liar and his supporters are every bit as stupid as he thinks they are.

This looks amazing and I need more dragons in my life so I bought it and am going to read it after I finish my Kate Daniels reread.
if you like the ace romance and humour of someone you can build a nest in by john wiswell, the messy-queers-fighting-for-justice vibes of the kingston cycle by CL polk, and the worldbuilding of sky on fire by jenn lyons then you’re gonna love the dragon next door 🌈📚 #booksky

The leader we need in these dark times.
Mamdani just showed up on the Weather Channel and cheerfully said if NYC students see him, they can pelt him with snowballs for not calling for a traditional snow day for tomorrow...

And I'm genuinely thankful for his optimism and leadership right now.

Please consider helping Kari with their burst pipes. The cold is really doing a number on their house.
Sooo, I had an adventure last night. I thought I was in the clear on frozen pipes but no, and one burst. So, I'll have to repair that, too.
I have edited my Ko-Fi goal to reflect the fact that these temperatures are kicking my house's ass and this coming bill is also going to suck so bad. I know it's coming for most of us, but if you got extra, you'll have my thanks.

It appears that this legend owns a little bookstore — and you can order books from him instead of Bezos. Link in next post.

I love how hard he's working to be transparent and communicate clearly about the infrastructure of his city during a snow emergency. This is how it should always be done. Always.
One of the hardest things to do is bring campaign-level communications to the work of governance, and snowstorms are notoriously one of the biggest litmus tests that less-engaged voters use to judge mayoral administrations. This is an excellent way to communicate.

if I could get everyone to do one (1) book related thing right now, it would be to preorder Prince of Storms from Tropes & Trifles in Minneapolis.

1) I mean preorders make me look fancy
2) they are an amazing bookstore dedicated to hope & happy endings in a city going through it.

They know each other because they're fucking neighbors. If they don't know you can get breathing protection at a hardware store, one of their neighbors knows it because their neighbor does woodworking or welding or shit like that, and their neighbor is like "oh yeah let's go to Lowes."
Bondi: "It's extremely organized. The signs they have are all matching, they're well written. And look at what's happening today. How did these people go out & get gas masks? These protesters. Would you know how to walk out on the street and buy a gas mask? Think about that. We're not gonna have it"

btw about this: enough people have asked that (since I DO pay for the commercial license, in spite of the designer telling me not to pay him lol) I'm going to put some tiny whistle packs up in our shop. I know not everyone needs $100 & some just want something cute from me.
And a final reminder: we do not sell whistles. We take requests from between 100 - 1000 (or more if you're a local organization w/ high distro capacity) and we print & ship them free. Always free.

Thanks to the folks who have allowed us to scale up while keeping that true.

So many terrible things are happening all the time, but people still need to eat, people still need to make rent, people still need to keep the heat on. I know we're all stretched thin now, but even a little bit helps!
I know the world is on fire, but I need help covering $605 of utilities/bills for Feb or I will overdraft. I do not ask lightly.

I'm a disabled queer trans artist medically unable to go back to gig work & humbly asking for for help.
TYSM!
