So here's a tip: turn off all notifications for social media. I'm not kidding. Stop the cycle where it starts. Only go onto Bluesky and Discord or whatever when you want to. Don't let the app tell you when to look at it. You're the boss of it, not the other way round

Great examples of this process were Minnesota and North Dakota, where the social-democratic Farmer-Labor Party and Non-Partisan League effectively merged with or took over the Democrats, minus weird isolationists like Henrik Shipstead and William Langer

though a lot of those eurolibs used to be actually center left, but like a hundred years ago before they got displaced to the center and the right by the rise of social democrats. while in the states the social democrats fizzled/died and ended up integrating into urban Dem machines/making their own
