Accusations of hypocrisy have never once been successful against right wingers in any context but especially in this particular context of child abuse. This is a very cogent explanation as to why and I wish everyone understood it.
when you understand that patriarchy views children as sexual property it all makes sense. there's no hypocrisy. exposure to queerness & transness threatens to "corrupt" the father's property, to "lead them astray" into self-determination, to taint their future sexual value. CSA is permissible as >
Thatcher's government did this with Section 28, banned the "promotion of homosexuality" as a danger to children, while actively protecting Jimmy Savile and who knows how many other pedophiles. It's the same damn playbook.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Of all the dystopian futures I’ve read in fiction, I can’t tell you how upsetting it is that Transmetropolitan continues to be the most prophetic. Spider Jerusalem was talking about toilet cams almost 30 years ago and I am so mad that wasn’t just a bit.
Home goods company Kohler recently unveiled a new device called the Dekoda — a $599 camera that can be attached to your toilet bowl and take pictures of what’s inside.

"To be a Republican in 2025 represents a clear public confession that you either don't know the difference between good and evil and you're so morally empty that you can't be bothered to begin to try, or that you do know the difference, and you prefer evil." www.the-reframe.com/the-crime-of...
The Crime of Human Virtue
Sometimes it really is as simple as good vs. evil. This is one of those times. Human virtue is our great crime against the fascist project; it's also our great weapon against it.

I wrote about a new Nazi party that seeks to criminalize all human virtue, and how that means that human virtue is the greatest weapon against the new Nazi project.

"A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, that individual is without morals. If a nations laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation."

SCHUMER: I have been reaching out to the horrors, many of which are friends, in hopes of working together on this for all Americans. You demand we descend into hell? Well ok, but let's do it right.

In 1936, Walter Benjamin characterized Europe as a society whose “self-alienation has reached such a degree that it can experience its own destruction as an aesthetic pleasure of the first order.” But he also warned that “all efforts to render politics aesthetic culminate in one thing: war.”

Remember how lefties used to say "abolish ICE" back in the 2010s, and got roundly scolded by the centrists for it ever since, and now events have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were 1000% on the correct side of history, but somehow they're still being scolded? Fun.

Nailed it. No notes.
Whenever folks start talking to me about using AI in their films, I smile innocently and say "oh, theft?"

When they stammer about their low budget, I muse casually "have you considered robbing a bank? If you're gonna steal anyway, you might as well get your budget where you need it."

Since the phrase “Banana Republic” is getting thrown around a lot lately, it seems worth pointing out that Banana Republics are literally created by America. They don’t just happen, they are the direct result of US fruit companies backed by US military and CIA. Colonialism always comes home to roost
We are fast becoming a banana republic, with two standards of justice. If you oppose the leader, you go to jail just for speech. If you're a loyalist, you get immunity for your crimes.

That's what happens in Iran - not the United States. This is a decision moment for America.

I’m spending this week with my godmother, who is a 94 year old Holocaust refugee.

She says “I didn’t escape Nazi Germany to deal with a country like this. The Nazis were scary, but at least you knew what to expect. This government is worse.”

Also:

Nazis are bad
The Earth is a sphere
Vaccines work
So:

Fascism is bad
The First Amendment is good
Genocide is an actual fucking crime

And also:

It's appalling to be in 2025 where each of these is not, in fact, taken as part of the baseline shared reality anymore
