one of the things I have come to believe is that the failure state of capitalism is not exactly the material phenomenon Marx describes so much as a kind of nihilism that comes from having enough money to buy anything you are legally permitted to purchase

I don’t understand what these guys thought should have happened in 2012. Should the incumbent democratic president have just conceded the race to reward republicans for nominating Romney? All Obama really did was exploit obvious vulnerabilities and exaggerate a bit - normal politics.
The media smeared Mitt Romney as Hitler. Then Republicans thought, well we might as well run Hitler.
