Journalists grind axes every goddamn day. Unless they totally lose their minds they remember what libel is. Nobody but a lunatic prints this without having things in their pocket.
I think it’s too early to say that, there’s a chance he’s the first Substacker to get sued into oblivion because he’s clearly grinding an axe here

"We have a first amendment right to coordinate our market activity" is not going to be a viable claim, guys
BREAKING: RealPage is suing New York, challenging a new state law that bans landlords from using algorithms to set rents.

RealPage claims that its software, which landlords have used to collude on rents, is protected by the First Amendment.

SCOOP—In August, nearly 200 current/former FEMA staffers published the Katrina Declaration, a whistleblower letter detailing all the dangers posed by current leadership.

All current employees were put on indefinite leave, and now I've learned one has been fired in violation of federal protections:
FEMA employee terminated for signing whistleblower letter
It appears to be a major violation of federal whistleblower protections and constitutional rights.

They don’t even need a specific federal/military action to be manufacturing consent for, it’s just a reflex.

If you want to see how quickly everyone goes into manufacturing consent mode, compare the full-court press tonight to the response to any of the people ICE has shot in the last few months, some of whom died.

one thing I will say, optimistically, is that as many people as there are who are absolutely addicted to losing, there are some people — some I’m not usually in agreement with — who seem to be sick of it

OK, but the number one person who is responsible for national guardsmen getting shot is whoever shot them. With the gun. Don't forget that part.

Uh oh
big late breaking news: the market monitor for the largest energy grid in the u.s., covering much of the midwest and mid-atlantic, has called to block new data centers connections to the grid, saying current course of growth assures regular blackouts
No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.

A sad irony in Washington, D.C., where West Virginia National Guardsmen were shot today. Six days ago, a court ruled their deployment was illegal, but stayed the order pending appeal. My heart goes out to these public servants and their families. oag.dc.gov/sites/defaul...

I don't know what to call it, but there is a very common and annoying social media phenomenon where people demand validation for mildly antisocial behaviour, instead of just feeling mildly guilty about it like a normal person.
These are pretty naked -- and therefore instructive -- examples of the sorts of defenses that people offer to try and get off the hook

It's really a society-shaping phenomenon too, there's a crowd that treats even mild social shame like oppression and then votes for people who validate their bad behavior, instead of just being like "oh my bad, that actually was kinda racist!" or "sorry I misgendered you!" and trying to do better

The only correct response to this from other states is war against Russia until they *change* said foreign policy.
Nah man just saying that there's a relatively unfortunate and brutal simplicity to russian foreign policy and if you put yourself in the crosshairs they will pull the trigger.
