been kind of a funny thing seeing some reaction to this being "what's he talking about, republicans don't know how to speak with civility and decorum"

They want to wipe out almost a third of the country. It’s got nothing to do with illegal immigration.

It’s white nationalism pure and simple. They’re fascists, and there’s no reason to doubt it.

just want to remind folks that pushback and public outrage stopped them from closing the CDC library. i bet pushback will stop them here, too

Please say “ethnic cleansing” when posting this stuff because that’s what they’re broadcasting. They’re broadcasting plans to engage in ethnic cleansing.
DHS now says it's aiming for 100 million deportations. In an amazing coincidence, there are 104 million Black and Hispanic people living in the U.S. right now.

This is why I don’t trust the "Never Trump" Bulwark guys. They’re perfectly comfortable with real people being harmed, so long as the harm comes via a process they can label “liberal democracy.”

I think it’s important to insist on recalling, at all available opportunities, that this was specifically an attack on a trans instructor over an assignment about gender. Neither of those details are incidental; they are the center of the story
If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career

Officially, seven people have died in ICE detention this month. Thinking about the way the Trump admin vanishes both people and data, I suspect the real number is higher.

NM lawmakers in 2023 passed a Second Chance Act to ban life without parole sentences for juveniles. But a recent opinion by the state’s AG, which appears to conflict with the reform law, is now blocking releases and threatens to pull others back into prison

Yes, CECOT is a concentration camp in the guise of a prison. The Venezuelans were the first people to *ever* be released from CECOT since Bukele opened the prison in January 2023. Seriously. The first.
These are concentration camps. No other way to describe them. Truly horrific, and none of it surprising in the least.
30 minutes. Some deportees described sexual assault. Detainee describes the guard sexually assaulting most detainees. Lights left on all day. Prisoners not given clean water.

Now the DHS tour. Nobody spoke to the detainees. Noem's video was in a different area of the prison.

RIP Vince Zampella.
People know him mainly for co-creating Call of Duty. In my case, I'm grateful he co-founded Respawn, which gave me several of my favorite sci-fi action games, including Titanfall 2, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Jedi Survivor.

He was only 55. What a tragedy.

Fwiw I think the “apologize for being white” thing is very clearly about making sure white people don’t feel an obligation to alleviate past injustices or make society fairer. Ultimately to do that you have to raise taxes and the billionaires holding Vance’s leash don’t want that.

There has never, in the 250+ year history of the United States of America, been a time where someone has "had to apologize for being white."

Ever.

This is naked white supremacy. Why? Because whiteness is, and has always been, the hegemon.
