This is my big soap box. We gave the presidency too much power with the PATRIOT Act, extrajudicial drone strikes, indefinite detention and the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Trump is just using executive authority Congress gave to the presidency after 9/11 to maximum effect.
Congress, in my opinion has ceded too much of its authority to the Executive Branch in the last nearly quarter of a century. What the administration has been doing is simply part the Post 9/11 legacy. It’s got to stop. I say this as a GWOT era veteran.
Credit to Rand Paul. He hated extrajudicial drone strike killings under Obama and he HATES them under Trump where Congress has given no authorization.

Pumpkin spice latte protest??
I actually went to a PSL "protest" once when I didn't know who they were. It spent more time bitching about "THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM" than on TRUMP. I was so disgusted that I left early

“the USPS must turn a profit” makes me want to set things on fire

they put a clause in the fucking constitution about postal service, that’s how important it is

nothing in there about “only if you can make money on it”
🚨SCOOP: Amazon is preparing to sever ties with USPS and expand its shipping network as a true coast-to-coast rival.

It could cost USPS more than *$6 billion* a year in lost revenue, and lead Amazon to dominate yet another facet of the economy.

USPS posted a *$9 billion* loss in 2025.

I realize everyone knows this, but you'll note that what he saw was two survivors trying to flip a boat over.

Which is a thing literally fucking anyone in a shipwreck would do.

The other stuff he said was fanfic he made up about them.
Q: What did you see in the second strike?

Cotton: "I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat -- loaded with drugs, bound for the United States -- back over, so they could stay in the fight."

And there has never been any need to defend eugenics.
NEVER.
There are ZERO ethical, moral, philosophical or scientific justifications for eugenics.
You cannot have just a smidge of "nice" eugenics.

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

I suspect the people up in arms about disability accomodations for students also have a problem with reasonable disability accomodations in the workplace, they just aren't as willing to say that part out loud

Unless your position is that extra time on exams is not a reasonable accomodation what exactly is the difference? It sounds to me like you want the meritocracy to tell you that you're the most special boy and you think accomodating disabilities gives those sneaky disabled people an unfair advantage

People don't bring it up much but of course we know it really hasn't been the same since Santa died in 1999. The new guy is okay but just doesn't have the same rizz. And once the files were opened and we learned all the unfortunate stuff about Original Santa the whole thing just felt off.

Heard the same; this is what I mean by inches from the finish line; scheduled for the final citizenship oath ceremony and now suddenly that date is cancelled and people don't know what will happen next.
Our office has clients caught up in this. Hearing from colleagues nationwide about people having their naturalization oath ceremonies canceled. Some of the affected people aren't even subject to the travel ban due to other acquired citizenship, but they are still being caught up.

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.
