The Gaza strip’s population, serially uprooted, starved and bombed, is reeling from a war whose cruelty has few parallels in modern history.

wrote about really interesting new research about how technology that removes PFAS from drinking water also can remove other carcinogenic chemicals:
It’s Possible to Remove the Forever Chemicals in Drinking Water. Will It Happen?
New research shows that filtration systems that remove PFAS can also get rid of other harmful substances. Whether they’ll actually be introduced is a different matter entirely.

Excellent piece by @joshchafetz.bsky.social. The Court thinks politics is hopelessly sordid all while it deprives the public of the legal means to do anything about it.

NEW in Bolts: Louisiana Republicans have passed a new law that effectively eviscerates people's ability to claim their innocence and seek relief once they've been convicted.

If the Supreme Court thinks universal injunctions are unconstitutional, to wait until *now* to say that, in this of all cases, with this of all presidents, is a devastating indictment of both its impartiality and its prudence.

Trump's attack on Iran is manifestly illegal, another usurpation of Congress's constitutional authority, and a fundamental assault on the rule of law in the United States and internationally.

Rather than repeating the term mindlessly, journalists should ask: "preemptive of what?"
Absent an imminent & specific armed attack that cannot be avoided except with force, "preemptive" strikes are straightforwardly illegal.
No attack meeting those criteria is even claimed.

Absolutely horrifying.

Note that at the end of the piece we learn that the UN staff member was reportedly beaten to death, not shot from a distance.

Don’t sleep on how this administration is also trying to continue leveraging the spurious designation of gangs as foreign terrorist organizations.

(In addition to the unsupported claims of membership in such gangs.)
