After raiding shopping plazas in Cicero and Bedford Park this morning, a caravan of Border Patrol agents swung north toward Edgewater.

Several Chicago police vehicles can be seen here intervening to protect their exit from DSLSD onto city streets and escort the caravan.

Now in Judge Gettleman's courtroom in Chicago, waiting for the morning hearing on this case - which alleges the Broadview, IL ICE facility is a "black hole" where detainees are deprived of legal counsel and subject to inhumane treatment - to begin.
Update: District Judge Robert Gettleman told the govt to return the immigration detainee plaintiffs in this lawsuit to IL by 4pm yesterday, as they had already been moved out of state.

I finally got word the plaintiffs were back in IL at ~7:45 am. A hearing in the case is set for 9:30 am today.

@peoplesfabric.com has done incredible reporting on everything from aldermanic shenanigans to police corruption to ICE activity.

As a Brown man who grew up with a family who all eat like this, I can't tell you how deeply this hurts and genuinely cuts. The racism is unbelievable. I eat like this and am proud to do so but it doesn't stop how painful the shock is that someone views you this way.

It was presented to us as requiring those who already have cameras to hold footage for a minimum number of days.

It wasn’t presented as requiring every store front to get a camera, which is a step too far. I have removed my name from the ordinance as a result.

Of all the dumb things this jabroni has grandstanded about in his career as a wannabe influencer/lobbyist, a proposal to infringe on our civil liberties with most of his close allies signed onto it is where he draws the line and refuses?

Give me a break.
I don’t waste time grandstanding on well intentioned but ill-conceived ordinances that I think are very unlikely to pass.

I’m especially surprised to see that so many ‘pro-business’ alders like Reilly (who wants Toni Preckwinkle’s job) think it would be a good idea to impose such a burden on EVERY BUSINESS IN CHICAGO.

Waiting on @chicagobars.bsky.social to say literally *ANYTHING* on the issue.

This is telegraphing your position that the only reason to oppose this is because you don't want the mayor to look good despite RTA/CTA benefits more than just Chicago or specifically one person. Let's disregard the last polling that has been done, despite being sketch, was early FEB 2025.
As transit funding enthusiasts pile on in the replies...the proposed Pizza Tax of $1.50 per order is not currently limited to DoorDash and Food delivery apps. The draft proposal eve includes meals you walk and pick up and carryout yourself.
Find your State officials here and call or email them TODAY telling them NO to more taxes on your already very taxed delivery and carryout meals.

The tax is to bailout the @CTA after 4 years of customer service failure. And now they want YOU to pay MORE for it! www.elections.il.gov/electionoper...
