i think a lot of catholic history happened because people were bored. why else would the acacian schism, which hinged on whether jesus was "fully divine and fully human" or whether he was "one person with a divine and human nature", last 35 years. there was just nothing else to talk about i guess

I feel kind of naive about it but I really assumed that putting an obviously insane dilettante shithead and sex creep into this particular office would be a bridge too far for the Senate. In retrospect I underrated how much more important it was to them to prove that such a concept no longer exists.
I understand the list of things this man has said and done is long but that he tweeted that COVID was engineered to spare Jews and Chinese people less than two years ago and is now HHS secretary is truly toxic icing on the antivax cake, to me

I'm a one-issue voter and it's "we absolutely need to let banks do mortgage fraud again, it's important." So this is a pretty big day for me.
Russell Vought, the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and one of the authors of Project 2025, just ordered the agency's staff to effectively cease all operations in an org wide email.

If this stuff is indispensable for modern life why do they need 332 million dollars to air commercials about it being indispensable for modern life?
Sources: OpenAI is expected to air its first TV ad during Sunday's Super Bowl; MediaRadar: AI companies spent $332M on ads in 2024, over double their 2023 spend (Wall Street Journal)

The takeover of Twitter was a preview of what we're all living with now and a stark example of why you can't let any one person have too much money: they go insane and make themselves everybody's problem

i don't feel bad for the 22 year olds Musk is using for his coup but if they were actually smart they'd realize there's a reason he isn't using experienced engineers. they're not his most special little boys, they're disposable and too stupid to ask questions. if things go bad they take the fall.

If I was the richest person on earth one of my main goals would be that if some loser was on streams getting dunked on over and over there wouldn’t be a robust discussion going on if that was actually me. And I definitely wouldn’t want people to be going “well he’s not *quite* pathetic enough”

tech companies have been anti-consumer for years now but never have i seen them commit to the complete rot of AI integrated technology despite the pushback and annoyance of the general public,
iPhone sales are down after they focus on AI instead of something people want. But Microsoft went all in on AI for Windows 11, they must be doing well—

They’re losing market share to windows 10, their own operating system that’s 9 years old.

Coming around on a terrible new opinion: it actually rocks how much Netflix sucks. "Obliterating most of film history so they can better jam you into watching 90 seconds of an inert sitcom that looks like it's happening inside of a Zyprexa ad" is actually the gambit, here. It's cool to spell it out.
THE STING (1973) is now the oldest American narrative film on Netflix — one of only 5 released before 1980 on the largest subscription streaming service in the U.S.
