I decided to end my weekend with this movie and it is more fucked up than Game of Thrones. I want to say this movie is good but I also never need to see it again… this level of discomfort is really not for the faint of heart and the writer(s?) definitely needed therapy.

If Starmer delivers the UK to Reform this is not going to be good for the UKs fiscal health. Don’t see how the bond markets would like chaotic authoritarianism.
Spot on, as usual, from the FT. Labour MPs should think about what is best for the country, in a turbulent world, where bond markets are restive, Britain’s relative stability is one of its main assets.
Labour’s destructive infighting
Starmer’s move to block a rival will not avoid months of internal plotting

Call them 'Immigration Control and Enforcement'. Or ICE for short.

"At the moment they're hamstrung by human rights laws, by health and safety laws, by all sorts of needless and obstructive bureaucracy"

Went to my local library this morning to do a bit of research for my current book project and my goodness such a life-affirming space! There was an adult being taught to read on the next table, children enjoying story time, countless people taking out books. So grateful for our libraries ❤️

Her giggly "I've done it" bit at today's event wasn't a great look, I admit. But this well below the belt. And if it really was a when/not if situation, then why on earth did Badenoch say, ten days ago, she was 100% confident there would be no more defections to Reform?
not sure this is the classiest response from the Tories to the latest defection to Reform UK

What's the difference between Times columnists Trevor and Melanie Phillips when it comes to ICE's thugs snatching random people off the street and murdering those who get in their way?

Trick question. None.

In case you missed it: My suggestion that Farage was whispering to Trump behind the scenes while Trump was going after Greenland has been essentially confirmed.

As @jamesdaustin.bsky.social notes: Working against your country's interest with a semi-hostile state - there's a word for that.

Federal agents are pulling over off duty cops based on the color of their skin.

This is not a serious operation to enforce immigration law. It’s a performative show of force and it’s gotten way out of hand.

New - Nigel Farage has been found by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to have made 17 standards breaches, adding up to over £380,000 in late declarations.

He’s apologised, so no further investigation (which seems unusual for a breach this large)
