In our work at the Free Press, we trivialize antisemitism and legitimize antisemites. Here’s why that’s good for the Jews.

Like my family, Miller’s family came here during the waves of Jews fleeing violence.

Now he says immigrants come here for “baby mill motels.”

Back then, nativists hated Jews & Italians. Now nativist racists like Miller hate Black & brown people, as they welcome in white people from South Africa.

so-called “progressive” former city supervisor Aaron Peskin is trying to recall Engardio for supporting a successful ballot measure to make the great highway car-free

I get why some people are skeptical of “abundance” in theory, but it’s necessary in practice to deal with the NIMBY left
The mask is now off on the effort to recall Supervisor Joel Engardio: Aaron Peskin — who has quietly pushed the recall for months — has now formally taken it over & installed his own lieutenants.

We need to be clear on what this recall is about & why Peskin is now leading it: 🧵

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like if a US exchange student in a foreign country (say, Turkey?) was imprisoned for six weeks because they wrote an op-ed in the student newspaper it would be a huge domestic story and an international incident.

crazy that an influx of dense infill housing can lower prices and make homeownership more attainable
"In 2020, [Portland, OR] approved building [middle housing] on lots zoned for single family homes... A new report from the City says, it's working. 1,400 new units built in just a few years and each one is $300,000 less expensive than a typical single family home." @nbcnews.com

There is no credible progressive argument against building a ton of new homes at all income levels. Opposing making it easier to build new homes isn’t progressive. It’s super conservative & an argument for a permanent shortage & permanent high rents.
If your whole thing is being a "renter's advocate" and you aren't running full speed towards this you are probably doing something else

Small business owners are not experts on transportation policy.
Half of business owners on this Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car.

In fact, it was 4%.

And the % of customers who who walked or cycled? 72%.

Retailers routinely overestimate the # of “car customers.” Via @carltonreid.com www.forbes.com/sites/carlto...

Cool so what happens if GOP attach a national abortion ban to a CR? You'll vote for that too?

🚮
My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.

I’m gonna be a broken record about this. They are *using Jews as a tool to advance their fascist agenda*

This has nothing to do with Jews. This has nothing to do with antisemitism.

We do not consent this. We want no part of this.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

My criticism of “The Groups” is that they don’t see always see the bigger picture. When they are mad *because they are observing a constitutional crisis* you have to hand it to them because they are right.
I think there are legitimate criticisms to be made of The Groups (TM), but maybe if your phone lines are jammed it’s due in part to organic discontent?
