I firmly believe the failure to cover Trump’s abhorrent behavior comes from the toxic solipsism of the political media, which is obsessed with being seen as serious, sees Trump’s indiscretions as a kind of sensationalist trap for less sophisticated minds, and applauds itself for not falling for it
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

Imagine trying to convince someone a decade ago that this sentence would be a 100% literally accurate description of the American political situation.
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

Not to pile on, but the lack of an obvious and clear set of potential successors is *ALSO* a failure of leadership.

The GOP certainly wasn't wondering around like the Travolta/Pulp Fiction meme asking "can anyone be leader after Mitch McConnell?!?"

Schumer opposed the shutdown deal. Some Democrats still want him out.
Some Democrats argue Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (New York) is not doing enough to stand up to President Donald Trump.

oh so these people do pay attention to who politicians follow on social media, they just don’t care that the vice president follows a bunch of actual neo-nazis
Axios tried to bust James Talarico for following adult content creators on Instagram and I'm genuinely impressed by his campaign's response

Some of the most acute and intense cowardice ever seen.
Just hours before polls are set to close, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer declined to reveal who he cast his vote for in the New York City mayoral election amid his continued rejection to endorse the Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani. bit.ly/49CEVpN

I don't know what will happen in NYC tonight, but I do know that regardless of outcome, any number of public figures, celebrities, politicians and institutions that oppose Mamdani have done so with a level of rhetorical ugliness, racism, and dishonesty that should neither be forgotten nor forgiven.

it is still remarkable how long "deplorable" was seen as a horrid attack on a population of Americans, and yet, the myriad insults lobbed at any number of Americans since then is ignored, and not treated as a moment.
