Having spent the past couple days recording the English audio guide for the Xi Xi Space, I have a newfound respect for voice actors & people who record audiobooks.

I spent probably an hour last night trying to decipher a Chinese phrase that just wasn't making sense, only to learn from the author that it was simply a typo. 🙈 Presumably this has happened to other literary translators too?

This is devastating. IWP's impact on international writing and translated literature can't be understated. I have no words.
🧵Dear Friends: We write today with a difficult update. On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the International Writing Program (IWP) learned that its grants with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, were being terminated.
