even the smartest folks whose takes i otherwise appreciate, who otherwise want to resist fascism themselves & encourage others to, find wearing a mask in, at least, public indoor spaces—to prevent the harms of this administration from impacting others—to be a bridge too far; it’s shameful, frankly.
yeah, i think a commitment to public health obligates you to get vaccinated and, when you are sick, do what you can to avoid spreading that to other people. the demand that one mask at all times in public spaces is, i think, unreasonable.

Covid is not over.

People are still dying and becoming disabled every day.

We rushed “back to normal” for the economy, not because the threat had passed.

When you wear a mask, you’re not only protecting your health, you’re saying you don’t believe anyone is expendable.

And so, it's done. I walked out of the office for the last time today, due to my layoff.

I'm a little less scared than I would have been thanks to all of y'all who enjoy my work. If you'd like to support me, please buy a copy of my trans magical girl work, and get ready for the incoming sequel.

This is why I keep saying one of the most radical things you can do individually is protect yourself by wearing a mask. It’s not just a way to protect yourself. It’s also an act of solidarity and a small show of force against the increasingly open agenda of social Darwinism and mass death
They’re cutting food inspections and medical research and education and climate forecasting and dismantling anything compiling empirical data because they believe our lives are expendable and nothing compared to their own enrichment and whatever bullshit agenda they push.

morally though I think it's funny, people are so alienated from each other in western culture that the concept of hurting others with your actions indirectly just doesn't penetrate... ie, your need for a starbucks drink means more to you than someone's health and safety during covid. same shit tbh

You can honor David Lynch by wearing a mask in public.

He had to begin isolating at home because he has emphysema- a COVID infection would likely be fatal- and no one wears masks anymore.

Millions of others like him (including myself) were left behind when COVID measures were abandoned

Leftism MUST be anti-ableist in order to function as a true opponent to capitalism. Capitalism relies on ableism as shorthand for who is a good worker and who can be cast aside to slowly die, abandoned. The least you can do is wear a mask.
what’s an opinion that’s got you like this around other leftists
