Many of this are left cold by this. I sure am. But this - the kind of performative Andrew Tate cartoon-masculinity, the clumsy swagger, the maundering braggadocio, the needy desperate I‘M A MANLY MAN I’M A MANLY MAN, speaks to a howling void of inadequacy in some people’s souls.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

I know, I know, but: The president of the US saying, literally, "we're going in" in reference to sending the military to an American city for no reason beyond terrorizing the local population should be the most immediately impeachable shit imaginable

As long as they’re hiding their faces, badges and names we should stop calling them “federal agents.”
Call them masked goons or unidentified thugs or whatever, unless and until they provide proper ID.

Here's a longer video of Brad Lander's detention just now inside 26 Federal Plaza as he tried to walk a man out of immigration court, by masked federal agents.

We should never let ourselves get desensitized to this. It can’t be overstated how outrageously unpresidential and un-American it is for Donald Trump to speak to the US military like they’re his partisan personal army.

By the way a military parade when we’re not celebrating a war victory is something a dude who never served would do.

Everything is so weird. In any other country, and in the US up to a few years ago, having one of your own become Pope would have been grounds for extraordinary celebration.
We are so broken by polarization here that the event instead runs through the lens of how a religious leader relates to Trump.

What happened in Wisconsin is an example of what is most feared: That in a true democracy regular people have more power than a billionaire, that all the money in the world doesn’t change one person one vote.

What is one concrete benefit that non-rich Americans have received from anything Trump has done since taking office? I can’t think of one, apart from the vicarious pleasure of watching people they dislike suffer.
