I was recently thinking about these cryptid books I borrowed from my local library as a kid in the 70s. Raintree Children's Books created a whole series that also included stuff like The Bermuda Triangle and Ancient Astronauts.

So maybe now I won’t lose my PIP… but it’s not about me, it’s about how we as a society treat disabled people now and in the future. Why should someone get little or nothing if they are diagnosed from the point of the reforms rather than the week before? That’s not OK! #TakingThePIP

There should be a ban on broadcasters using footage of “anonymous” (heads cropped out) larger people - who could nevertheless recognise themselves based on knowing their own bodies and clothes - to illustrate stories about obesity, fat or weight loss

Healthy eating is a privilege.
“Wellness” is a privilege.
Being able to go to the gym, yoga, hiking etc are all privileges.
These things won’t “cure” disability, but even if they could, they’re out of reach for a huge portion of the population.
Universal basic income now.

so sad. how poverty causes feelings of shame was such a big part of my research and a big part of my own story too
I heard a really heartbreaking story today about a woman in poverty trying to feed her baby. She won’t talk to me as she’s too ashamed, but I was interviewing a relative and they told me. Infant formula prices need to be capped, enough with this profiteering from desperate parents!
