They never give the name of the bystander, Ahmed el Ahmed, and they never note that he’s Muslim.

Other outlets have done so, but not the NYT.

Okay. This is angering me.

First of all, “MAN”!?
We’re not in the nineteenth century FFS. There’s a better word and it is “Humans”.

And secondly - who the f£&k thought HUMANS only learned to control fire 50,000 years ago???!!!

Man made fire 350,000 years earlier than previously thought, discovery in Suffolk suggests
Groundbreaking find makes compelling case that humans were lighting fires much earlier than originally believed

Ahmed Al Ahmed is the man who tackled the gunman in Australia. He is a Muslim. He saved lives. My Jewish soul is deeply grateful.

And this is what happens when we run towards each other. When we build relationships and coalitions and solidarity. We show up for each other. He showed up. Thank you.

One example - Drax produces electricity by burning trees, most expensive electricity, UK's biggest single polluter.

In 2024, Drax had £1.06bn operating profit, paid £100m dividend, £300m in share buyback.

Received billions in subsidies for decades. Why?
