“If we need to”…. You fucking need to.
Kaine: "I can tell you this -- we will force a vote in the Senate about no US military action in Greenland or Denmark if we need to. We will get overwhelmingly bipartisan support that this president is foolish to even suggest this."

Congratulations to all the bankers, hedge-fund managers, private-equity honchos, tech titans, corporate executives and op-ed writers for backing the man who will do more to undermine the system that made them insanely wealthy than any other presidential candidate in their lifetimes.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said the US central bank had been served grand jury subpoenas from the Justice Department threatening a criminal indictment, a dramatic escalation of the Trump administration’s attacks on the Fed.

Maybe the most fascinating belief among the billionaire class, especially the Silicon Valley set, has been their confidence that if they blow up the specific conditions and institutions that put them on top, they will certainly come out even higher on top

I don’t see how this country survives until 2029 unless Trump is impeached and removed. This level of lawless malice is not sustainable. What fresh horrors await us this week?

Trump’s line is that disrespect to law enforcement is punishable by death. Impeach and remove. This is not tolerable.
Q: "Do you believe that deadly force was necessary?"

Trump: "It was highly disrespectful of law enforcement. The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement…Law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with this stuff."

I do not think anybody is prepared for how quickly and how thoroughly things we've taken for granted our whole lives could change
Look, you may think the Mail is probably exaggerating but the news side of Telegraph is legit: if Euros are considering this, there's smoke

And this is why you chase ICE. Every minute these worthless thugs spend running from us is a minute they can’t be doing this.
Someone sent me this video of Trump’s goons in action today in the Twin Cities. The audio is disturbing.

At a church in Minneapolis that is hosting an anti-ICE singing vigil, which will later process through the neighborhood.

They sing: “This is for our neighbors who are locked inside, together we will abolish ICE.”

WELKER: Has the president crossed the line of impeachment?

CHRIS MURPHY: I have common sense. I know this president has committed 10 times more impeachable offenses in his second term as he did in his first. He's stealing from the American people.

Hard to overstate what a remarkable statement this is from a Republican senator — even a retiring one — accusing thte Trump White House of weaponizing DOJ to control the Fed:

"It is now the independence and credibility of the Department of Justice that are in question."

i think powell's response here is a demonstration of the folly of the idea that democratic accountability requires presidential control. what if the president is not acting in the public interest? you want independent agencies to be able to push back and pursue their *congressional mandate*
Powell, showing more guts than almost any GOP legislators:

"The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Fed setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President."

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."
