yeah my IMO is: it's bad to use it, it's bad they left it in, it's good they removed it, it's good they disavow it, and it's entirely justified to have rescinded awards for it. i will continue to talk about clair obscur fondly.

fiiinally an official atatement i can just accept LMAO

"we did use it when it was new but we didn't like it and never will again" is a great and satisfying answer

I can’t wait to revisit this thread in the morning. I must go to sleep but Die Hard is one of my family’s favorite movies and a childhood spent watching it definitely shaped me. I don’t think well but it did hahaha

I’d rather compete in a staring contest against Erika Kirk than watch Chappelle’s new special.
Y’all are actually watching Dave Chappelle stand up? New material? For real?

On purpose?

#2. BLUE PRINCE - My favorite thing about Blue Prince is that I never finished it. Even after 100 hours, there are still unsolved puzzles that keep me up at night. I don't know if I'll ever find them, and I don't know that I want to. I love the mystery enough to let it eat at me longer.

Interesting thread that I think gets at why Avatar feels so odd to me.
Whereas Avatar is as close to Pure Movie as a modern movie franchise can be. It bristles against spinoffs and derivatives in its design. You can't do much of an avatar TV show because the whole selling point is this hugely detailed world that would not survive the transition to the small screen.

Ok. Now had a chance to check and, well, at least some docs do appear to be straight up classic redaction fail. And there are some *interesting* bits here.

related: new season of "Very Important People" on Dropout and I am wheezing and cackling through the first episode so badly that (combined with having done like three sit-ups the other day, my ""abs"" did not care for that) I am in literal pain and had to dig out the actual ibuprofen from my bag

if it's you that's in a rough spot — I've been there, man, maybe not right where you have, but there — I really want you to be brave enough to tell someone you trust. I pinky swear promise it helps if you screw yourself up to do it, ok?

btw these days can be strange and lonely for people that don't have family to speak of or can't be where they want for whatever reason; if you know someone you think might possibly be in a rough spot, you'll do a real good thing by checking in and making sure they know you're in reach if they need

1. BREAKING

Sharyn Alfonsi, a correspondent for 60 Minutes, sent an internal email to colleagues stating that CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss “spiked our story” about the Trump administration and the transfer of deportees to a prison in El Salvador.

"We have been promoting this story on social media for days. Our viewers are expecting it. When it fails to air without a credible explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of ‘Gold Standard’ reputation for a single week of political quiet"

People are rightly disgusted by this speech, but it’s a measure of fascism’s normalization that many see this as more of the awful same rather than what I think most of us who’ve been reporting this beat hear it as: a significant calculated escalation. Full alert stuff.
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

Heated Rivalry is a Crave production, from Canada. HBO is just a distributor. I really wish people would stop attributing anything in the production of this show to HBO.
Sounds like this set was run how they all should be. HBO once again leading the industry in intimacy directing.
“These actors are so bold,” says “Heated Rivalry” intimacy coordinator Chala Hunter. “I can’t overstate how much of these characters they just brought. We kept saying, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe they’re doing that.’”

If we’re going to get really no quarter about genAI usage, I’m going to need people to learn the difference between AI and genAI real fast.

Part of the issue is the very term AI has been widened out broadly and infinitely so now we're playing this language crapshoot, during which people can either be mistaken, use the wrong term, not fully understand the term they're using, or just lie. It's a fucking mess.
ngl, outside of the clip that got popularised by Gene Park, the next paragraph sounds like it's a more algorithmic asset placement tool (referencing trees, paths etc) than genAI
