Pay close attention to who is saying that 14 year-olds *can* consent to sex with trump and other damp billionaires but *can’t* consent to gender affirming care provided in close and collaborative partnership with their doctor.

I installed @cachyos.org to my Microsoft Surface 8 last night. So far, it is blazing fast and smooth. I might consider using this for my desktop OS.

Probably have Gollum say, "Shire! Baggins! Fuck!" as he's being tortured in the first movie. Torture famously isn't fun! I'd let him say "Fuck" if it made him feel better.
The Lord of The Rings movies were rated PG-13. By current rules that means that each film could contain one use of the word "Fuck". Which line are you altering to insert the most useful swear word?

"I can't carry it for you, but I can Fucking carry you"

I just searched for @jacobgeller.com videos on YouTube and one of the first things that showed up in the search query was a collection of reaction vids of people watching Jacob Gellar videos. These are listed before his actual videos. Why is this a genre that YouTube is pushing to me?

Essentially, I think that LLM-generated dialogue only makes sense if you believe that the product of writing is words.

But the product of writing isn't words, any more than the product of justice is prisoners, or the product of love is weddings. The product of writing is meaning.

LLM consciousness is exactly the same in character and quality as Pot Bear, a pot that I own that looks exactly like a friendly bear when viewed at a particular angle while drunk
"they will be, one day"

no, they won't, any more than tires can help you fly. They're not built for that. They're a fundamentally different technology. An LLM does not exist to model conscious thought, it exists to take advantage of your willingness to see faces in things that aren't there.

I would enter every Best Buy and overwrite every Samsung TVs' operating system if I could. It's hot garbage.
If you own a computer it should be illegal for a company to not let you easily install your own software. This includes crap like tvs and refrigerators. Let me put Debian on my dishwasher.

With expanding a short children's book to a feature length film and having to cater to Jim Carrey's schtick, it's sad how much the Grinch movie exemplifies the superficiality that the Grinch criticized in the original Dr. Seuss book.

An enraging trend right now, from CBS to the CDC, of people actively undermining institutions, then taking the reins of those institutions and claiming they need to rebuild the trust they helped destroy. (Also, people already trusted 60 Minutes.) bsky.app/profile/just...
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

I have very much enjoyed building a media server and uploading all my music and DVDs and Blu Rays. I get to re-engage with all the media that shaped me in my high school and college years and beyond.

I know I’m not the first person to say it but the hyper commercialization of the Grinch story is pretty sad and a perfect illustration of the ability of capital to absorb critiques painlessly

I watched Wake Up Dead Man last night. Very good movie but with a wildly different tone than the other Knives Out movies in that it felt more conflicted about its setting (the church) but with great confidence in its message.

On the heels of the failure of big money pushes for NFTs, crypto, wearables, and the metaverse, it is absurd to hold the position of "AI is inevitable and we must learn to live with it."

It's also a craven position that suggests we shouldn't fight for what we value. We decide our own fates.
