Watch these. And then go over to the White House web site to see the revisionist propaganda. It's a shocker.

That America then put Trump back in the WH and he pardoned all those people may have been death blow for our democracy and we are still laboring under the illusion that it still exists.
I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

So how did Thom Tillis respond to this unprecedented assault on US democracy? By voting against Trump’s impeachment, supporting his reelection, voting in favor of every Trump nominee for every office and in every possible way supporting his establishment of authoritarian rule.
Sen. Tillis denounces Trump's pardons of J6 insurrectionists: "We let bad people go, and we sent the message that if you come to this Capitol and you have the right president in office, he's gonna get you get past things that not anyone of us would get away with if we did it back in our home state"

Maybe we didn't want this in all its particulars -- maybe we didn't want to see the ugliness so obvious, so close up -- but we wanted a flailing, adolescent tantrum against Mom, against the rules, against restraints, against norms & strictures, against "woke." We wanted a rumspringa, and we got it.

The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! But wokeness! - but ultimately it was a societal suicide attempt and probably the dumbest collective voting decision ever made

this is such a bizarre piece, just laying out wiki-style facts about Greenland and then casually noting near the end that Greenland absolutely does not want to be a part of the United States
Why does Trump want Greenland to be part of the U.S.?
Greenland is 836,000 square miles of largely frozen ground northeast of Canada. So why does the White House say it "should be part of the United States"?

kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

just a reminder of the initial, in the moment, right wing reaction to jan 6

my favorite is greg gutfeld saying republican condemnation of the jan 6 rioters is an example of their moral superiority over the left

The thing that’s so dumb about this is that there’s nothing legitimate about the strategic importance of Greenland that the US doesn’t get through existing alliances. Denmark isn’t impeding US strategic interests. It’s about them wanting to increase US land area by 20%.
Joint European statement on Greenland. They moved quickly after Miller’s comments about annexation last night.

I sometimes have to remind people that Capitol Hill is the name of a neighborhood where people live.
As we, the good people of America, remember J6 with horror and sadness, spare a thought for the residents of the city it happened in.

DC is often overlooked as a place where folks live, but this trauma happened to us, on our streets, in the place we call home.

January 6 in History

Wrote this two years ago: “If the insurrectionist-in-chief returns to power without ever facing any real consequences and while explicitly declaring his intent to establish a vindictive autocracy, then January 6 will have been successful.”

And here we are.
January 6 in History
Was it a key moment in the republic’s eventual demise or a milestone on the road to democracy’s ultimate triumph? The meaning of January 6 is yet to be determined

Remember when a guy lost an election and then spent months making wild, baseless claims that it was stolen, leveraging the personality cult he’d built to try to get people to reject the results? And then thousands of his supporters rioted, injuring hundreds of cops?

Whatever happened to that guy?

If Nick's nazi-sounding statements are "authentic" doesn't that mean...

These people don't even listen to themselves.
Glenn Greenwald says Nick Fuentes' authenticity makes it easy for critics to "demonize and attack you by taking these quotes that can sound not just very racist, but very almost Nazi-like and kind of an extermination rhetoric." Um, yea. People who use Nazi-like rhetoric tend to get labeled a Nazi.

To people in the media like Jake Sherman the idea of toppling another country's government and openly admitting it's to pillage their oil fields while we're being condemned by the world for violating international law means absolutely nothing. The *real* issue is how you message that action 🤡

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO
