As someone who tried soldering for the first time today, “tools are not talent” feels true across disciplines.
I actually did an interview today in which I talked about the fact that the proliferation of research tools has been both good and bad. The web is now flooded with marketing content and few people are shilling for big Critical Thinking.

Creating content is work, content without work is slop.
It’s quite bad that we’ve stopped socially rewarding people who do work, the only way to get recognition is to create content, which means you aren’t doing the work, you’re making work-flavored content
It's a defining feature of the Trump Era: unqualified people in big important jobs who don't want to do them and can't anyway so they spend a lot of time pretending to do it on TV and social media.

Easiest way to improve the theatrical experience is to increase staff and pay them better. But that is anathema to business geniuses and so everything will continue to get worse until the only theatres around are tiny art houses owned and operated by people who love movies more than money.
All of this money spent on this study and not a single mention of things that might keep people away: disruptive audience behavior, increasingly poor technical presentation, every shrinking theatrical windows (or day and date indies). I love theaters, and go multiple times a week, but it’s grim.
