It's that time of year again when "motivational gurus" flood your feeds with posts asking "What did you achieve in 2025?" and preaching "financial literacy" as the "key" to 2026. As working class folks, especially Black or Brown, this messaging can feel like salt in a wound. Please ignore it. 🧵

I was just at the gym watching a The Wire s2 episode, and came back to this awful news. Ransone was incredible in that season — so believable as the screw-up determined to live down to everyone's low opinion of him. And great in almost everything else I saw him do. RIP.

#Deucember Day#19 Dennis Donnelly's grungy 1978 proto-slasher 'The Toolbox Murders' is kinda divided by a suspenseful and disturbing act one, and a heartbreaking psychodrama in two ~ and this fan thinks it all works, schizo as it is. Love the tacky L.A. apartment complex vibe too. @gcdb.bsky.social

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."
