A correct set of opinions.

Would love to know what happened with 5. I wonder if Downing Street thought it would be seen as a sop to the left of the party, given El-Fattah's cause was taken up by some of them. (+ Greens / Your Party / Gaza Independents)?

Half watching Four Weddings and a Funeral for the first time in years and its got to the ridiculous bit where Kristen Scott Thomas reveals she's in love with Hugh Grant and the film doesn't end immediately with him dumping the dull American for her.

The best thing about working 12 hours without a break and serving over 600 covers is then going home and prepping your own Xmas dinner. Because now there will be Whisky.

This is why Muppet Christmas Carol is a classic and Muppet Treasure Island is less good. Michael Caine is playing Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and Tim Curry is playing Tim Curry in a Muppet film at volume 11.
I do think the key for things like Home Alone, Muppet Christmas Carol, etc. is that the actors fully commit to the bit

I feel like similar films made now lean too heavily into doing it ironically

James Herbert, probably Terry Pratchett soon, in fact the vast majority of authors shortly after they die.
Just starting a running thread for “once famous figures now slipping into recondite knowledge now that they’ve died and society moves on” to come back to as and when I remember

In the movie Grease John Travolta sings "Sandy baby, I sit and wonder why you left me." But we all saw why she left him, it was because he tried to feel her up and wouldn't take no for an answer. It only happened five minutes ago, how have you forgotten?
In the movie Grease during “You’re The One That I Want” Olivia Newton John sings “…feel your way” and John Travolta goes “YEOWWW” and acts like he gets electrocuted but in the Grease soundtrack this sound effect is omitted.

From SCTV, Martin Scorsese's Jerry Lewis LIVE on Les Champs-Elysées. This is such a *perfect* parody, Martin Short is incredible. Best bit: Lewis in a goofy sailor suit ranting bitterly about the movie business. The anger, madness and neediness, it's all here.

I'm astonished the Chancellor has put up some taxes on budget day. Luckily some of these taxes are the good taxes that only effect other people. Sadly some of these taxes are the bad taxes that effect me.
