Federal trial courts and district appellate courts are pushing back against Trump’s illegal use of Justice Dept to exact revenge on his enemies, while SCOTUS’s GOP supermajority continues to rubber stamp Trump’s white nationalist project to remake election law.
[ gift article for its author ]
Trump keeps picking unqualified lawyers to act as top prosecutors in his revenge campaign. Increasingly, judges are ruling this scheme illegal.
The Trump Lawyer Scandal Is About Something Much Deeper Than Legal Technicalities
The saga is emblematic of Trump’s most dangerous and self-serving tendencies.

From the Department of Cringe.

Naming buildings to glorify a sitting president is a sign of impending autocrocy.

The length to which officials in this country are willing to go to kiss the ring of the Orange King is a disgrace and an embarrassment.

Trump — a NYC landlord — has sent Kushner and Witkoff — two NYC landlords with no other qualifications — to represent Ukraine in negotiations with Putin.

Kushner’s Moscow mission wasn’t just corrupt. It was unconstitutional.
Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, has been traveling the world to participate in high-stakes foreign policy negotiations on behalf of the president.

yeah we’re gonna have to think bigger than “wealth tax” when it comes to Elon.

My proposal: he spends the rest of his life in a prison cell and his personal fortune is seized by the government and used to fund an expanded USAID
It woud be helpful if more people understood that a man who says and thinks such monstrous things now has enough money to purchase private armies and sway elections. We can solve part of this problem with two words: wealth tax.
it should probably be a bigger story that the richest man on earth and leading Republican is a fucking Nazi

media needs to stop beating around the bush. this is Nazi shit.

A federal judge has ruled that ICE's "systemic failure to apply the probable cause standard, including the failure to consider escape risk" when making arrests in DC directly violates immigration law and DHS's own regulations.

Federal judge blocks the Trump administration from warrantless immigration arrests in Washington, D.C. “without a pre-arrest individualized determination … of probable cause.”

A “newly filed civil action in the District Court for the District of Columbia could complicate that plan — and potentially derail the Comey case altogether.”

We are not at war with Venezuela, yet. The boats are civilian craft. The U.S. criminal code does not maintain a death penalty for drug smuggling. Due process is required before conviction or sentence.

All of the 80 people killed thus far are wanton murders slain under illegal orders. All of them.

After World War II, 3 German U-boat crewmen were sentenced to death for machine-gunning Allied sailors who were clinging to life rafts after their boat was sunk.
It's long been known in the military that this is a war crime. Pete Hegseth must be fired and prosecuted.

At some point you just run out of things to say, right? There’s no argument to make. There’s nothing to discuss. The executive branch is saying “We make our own law and obey no one” and either you say “Okay, I guess you do” or you put down the whole administration and salt the earth where it stood

Then we can prosecute World Liberty Financial (and its co-founder Russian asset Witkoff) who is co-splaying as a diplomat, to the fullest extent of the law.

It’s clear that the primary interest of the US in “peace negotiations” is to create opportunities for Trump, Witkoff, their family members, business partners and cronies to make billions from business deals with Russia, and Ukraine is just the annoying nuisance in the way.
