Tonight in the December Comfort Watches: Roxanne, in which we are asked to believe that a successful, witty, kind man with excellent social skills, a good career and his own house would have difficulty finding a partner merely because of a prodigious proboscis.

The December Comfort Watches 2025, Day Twenty-Eight: Roxanne
The one problem I have with Roxanne is, alas, its central premise: that its protagonist, Charlie “C.D.” Bales (Steve Martin) is tragically undesirable because of his unusually long nose…

Julie K. Brown is a reporter for the Miami Herald who did groundbreaking work on Epstein beginning in 2018, including groundbreaking work on the disgusting coverup by Alex Acosta.

Her travel itinerary was released with some of the Epstein files. It appears the DOJ was monitoring her in 2019.

Billionaires are considering cutting or reducing their ties to California by the end of the year because of a proposed ballot measure that could tax the state’s wealthiest residents.
A Wealth Tax Floated in California Has Billionaires Thinking of Leaving
It’s uncertain whether the proposal will reach the statewide ballot in November, but some billionaires like Peter Thiel and Larry Page may be unwilling to take the risk.

shit like this is the core of the damage the social internet has done to us

we have replaced actual expertise with "some dude with a podcast who makes you feel like his buddy while he bullshits into a microphone" and now a ton of people think that measles and chicken pox are the same
Yeah, this dum dum is talking about chicken pox.

Anyway, it's very cool and awesome that he has so much cultural and political influence.

Trump invites the press into the meeting in violation of the agreed protocol. Then he kicks them out. Pure chaos, as usual.
Trump tells the press as he meets with Zelenskyy, "I think you could sit outside and have some food. Would you like to have food or do you consider that a bribe, and therefore you cannot write honestly? ... Margo, take them outside and tell the chef to serve them good lunch."

These technologies can and are being used to create lifelike images and videos of actual living women and girls. For what I think are pretty obvious gendered civil rights reasons, it needs to be a recognized civil cause of action to create an AI image or avatar of a woman without her consent.
"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

This too.

“I object to what you’ve done and decline to perform for you” is free speech and free association.

The govt threatening legal action over that is compelled speech.

Fits the warped “I can say whatever I want, you have to listen, and you can’t say anything back” conception of free speech.
“it is illegal for you not to like me”
This is the logical and inevitable conclusion of the last decade of elite media "free speech" discourse.
