I tend to trust journalism that comes from people who actually go to a place and then write about the content of direct interactions they had with real people involved with an event. Also, @margaret.bsky.social is just a fantastic writer.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

I really hate the argument of "X can't be this person's intention because Y would have been a more effective strategy and they didn't do Y. " Examples: if January 6th was REALLY a couple attempt they would have done this other thing." 1/

the last few days has been a reminder that people really want to believe that not only is there this real thing called a “criminal,” and that if they need to, anyone can just prove they aren’t one
do people not realize that the past four decades of US policing legislation PR and practice have made the allegation that someone is a “gang member” entirely subject to the whims of the state
