It’s called Bias Lighting! It has a purpose in home theater to reduce eye strain among other things if done correctly.
Half the people on here will bang on about buying 4K discs, or turning off motion smoothing, to get the filmmaker’s intended viewing experience; but whenever they post a picture of their TV it’s blasting some horrible neon colour all over the wall behind it.
