America’s relationship with trans people was a totally different thing until the media industrial complex discovered it could make money by vilifying it. There was a Love Boat episode about a trans woman that was just like, 👍🏼. The Top 40 treated trans people with dignity.

God it sucks now.
I was listening to an old Casey Kasem American Top 40 (I find this soothing these days) from 1985 where he told the story of Wendy Carlos, who scored The Shining and Tron, and her journey to becoming trans. Casey got all the pronouns right and it was presented as a slice of life, feel good story
Cool tip: it actually takes MORE effort to deliberately misgender someone AND it marks you as a total asshole! Pretty cool!

I’ve done this for every single script since Rick & Morty and it’s truly the only sane way to write I’ve found to write - Television, film, comics, whatever!

This is awesome: a "WKRP in Cincinnati" fan created a three-hour Johnny Fever radio block, by using clips from the TV show and dropping in the full songs on his intros and outros, plus commercials and Les Nessman news breaks.

I don't know if it's being sent at random, but I got an email survey from Patreon. And I never miss an opportunity to yell.

It's all about AI.

They very much want to use AI.
They very much want to use your art to train AI.
They could not broadcast more clearly how much they want a piece of that AI

Thank you.
Fascism is here. We are not “getting closer” or “in danger of.”

This matters because it frames our discussion: We aren’t trying to prevent it, we’re trying to defeat it. It’s not taking over our institutions, it’s taken them over.

Otherwise, we’re always behind, fighting a past we’ve already lost.

I think it might be possible that torrenting sites have the worst comment sections. You get all of the bigotry, hatred, and ignorance, mixed in with the absolute most asinine takes on movies you will probably ever see.

there's an episode of The Simpsons where Marge tries to get a violent cartoon pulled from the airwaves, only to discover that the people backing her aren't going to stop at just the art that *she* doesn't like, and that supporting artistic freedom means accepting discomfort.

It aired in 1990.

I know everyone hates how long the ads before movies are, I do too, but I swear I would happily set through another ten minutes of ads before every movie if these places would just keep it like, five degrees colder in their theaters in the summer and five degrees warmer in the winter.

The annoying spam texts destroying the Democratic brand:

$678M raised through those spam tactics

$282M to one consulting firm: Mothership Strategies.

$11M to actual campaigns (1.6%)

The party isn’t just treating donors like marks—it’s being fleeced itself yet continues to back Mothership.

How a single consulting firm extracted $282 million from a network of spam PACs while delivering just $11 million to actual campaigns.

When public media disappears, so do the stories that bring us together.

With federal funding eliminated, millions may lose their last trusted source of news and connection.

I don't know, dude, if you can't go five minutes without making some comment while watching a movie then maybe the movie theater isn't the place for you to watch movies.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Okay, I love War Horse, but I feel its narrative would make more sense if there was a scene just before Tom Hiddleston takes the horse where Albie places a curse on him and anyone else who comes into possession of the horse other than him.
