“Readers can see what they want in this book, as if it is a textual Rorschach test…equal parts memoir, journalist prose and history. It offers insights into elite Chinese politics, Communist history and the economic boom years of the 1980s and 1990s. It is also a book of enduring filial love.”

Having the World Cup and Olympics here under the Trump regime is really a recipe for disaster.

Again: why would any player or fan come here under these circumstances? Especially non-white people?

Expect more of this👇🏽

Also, get the hell off Twitter. Tonight!
Every damn Democratic congressperson should be physically standing together on the steps of the Capitol and demanding an end to this deadly abuse. Are they really unable to fight back against this despicable propaganda used to justify the killing by ICE and supported by Noem and Trump?

Nixon insisted the bombing of Cambodia was just targeting Viet Cong outposts there and not meant to undermine its government, but the bombings destabilized the Lon Nol government and paved the way for the Khmer Rouge’s killing fields and the massacre of more than a million people.
NBC's sources said that "the potential mission in Mexico is not designed to undermine the Mexican government." But that's what it will do if the US is doing CIA drone strikes on Mexican soil over the objections of the president.

So many congrats, Austin! Excited to preorder a copy of this bad boy!
Spent the last month in a work sprint to get a bunch of stuff done before the new years. Then, on the day when I turn in my reviews, I get my author copies of Living in a DAISY Age! It's very, very surreal, but amazing, to hold a copy for the first time.

I’m sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

as a queer Catholic who's like, in the pews and reading the changing winds, I've often said that "the Francis effect" people talk about really existed outside of Francis the individual Pope (whose words & actions at times deeply sucked!) it's about the way it makes other people change their behavior
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how many Catholic parishes and power figures have been loudly and openly “fuck this”
ICE’s acting director ordered a Boston Catholic parish to tear down its Advent Nativity scene—stripped of baby Jesus and branded with the message “ICE WAS HERE.” The parish priest is refusing, citing he pope’s call to stand with migrants. It's another chapter in Kristi Noem's war on Christians.
