Finding myself asking myself a lot of nauseating questions I’d once have laughed off as paranoid. Cheerful stuff like “what sort of orders is the military ultimately prepared to follow if the president finally abandons the pretense of operating under law?”

Over the last five days, we’ve been witnessing remarkable, even miraculous mutual aid happening all over the city of Los Angeles—but esp. Altadena—, done by ordinary Angelenos, some also fire victims, who care deeply about their city and it’s ppl. We’ve shared those experiences here. Take a look—
In LA's darkest moment, the light of tireless Angelenos providing aid, food shines bright | Opinion
Amid the destruction in LA, there are glimmers of hope. Angelenos everywhere have heard the call for aid and stepped up in remarkable ways.

Thank god nothing else is going on and our elected officials can focus on what really matters 🙏
The House just passed a bill that would ban transgender athletes from participating in women's and girls' sports at institutions receiving federal financial assistance.

Every Republican supported the measure. Just two Democrats voted in favor.

What people really need right now is money, anyway.Money to put them up somewhere - to float them until insurance pays out - to help them feel like they still have some autonomy.
Again, the goods people are sending are really great. But it’s also ok to send $5 to a few GoFundMe’s or local charities.

Cool to know if 9/11 happened today it would be “New York should’ve terrorist proofed their buildings”

The Republican Party has fallen so far. It’s disgusting.
The Republicans who have said there should be strings attached to disaster aid while LA burns include:

Speaker Mike Johnson
Sen John Barrasso
Sen Tommy Tuberville
Rep Warren Davidson
Rep Ronny Jackson
Rep Zach Nunn
NEWSMAX: Why should other states be bailing out California for choosing the wrong people to run their state?

TUBERVILLE: We shouldn't be ... they don't deserve anything to be honest with you unless they show us they're gonna make some changes.

I’m really proud of LA.

Los Angeles has a reputation of being superficial & selfish. But when facing disaster, it’s a community of 3.8 million with connections around the world. Donations are overloaded & community-led support services are popping up everywhere. We survive together, always.
