If you are an advocate of truth, science, evidence and accuracy, you shouldn't be promoting a software program designed to generate aesthetically-plausible text with zero connection to truth beyond chance

How is this so hard for people to grasp

I mean the biggest problem is that it says things that make sense, so people start to trust it, when what it says is not connected to truth or falsehood. It doesn't even know it's lying so there's no human cues that suggest it. xkcd.com/2650/

Deep Blue is 30 years old and was capable of defeating chess grand champions. It could be housed in a single cabinet.

ChatGPT spans untold data centers devouring massive amounts of electricity and it got its ass whipped by an 8 bit gaming console from the 1970s.

I don’t know how I didn’t see this before.

The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias. The shorthand is that people overestimate their skills/knowledge in a given domain, because they lack the knowledge to assess their own competence.

ChatGPT etc have automated the Dunning-Kruger effect.

That's me, I'm old and broken.

That Rubio and Trump like AUKUS is just yet another indicator of how shit a deal it is for Australia
No real surprise here. Under #AUKUS @albomp.bsky.social is gifting $5B to US shipyards with no guarantee of getting any US subs. Australia carries all the risk and the US is free to jack up the price. Why wouldn't Trump go with that? P.J. Keating was right. 1/2 #auspol

For my whole life, conservative politics has argued that letting rich people keep more of their money would, because of their rich-guy genius, redound to the greater good. That was always unconvincing, but we did it anyway and among other things it has delivered the absolute worst posts in history.
