The beauty of soft lines, of meandering lines...

#photography #landscapephotography #landscape #travel #nature #naturephotography #bluesky #sunrise #sunset
There is an infinite beauty to moving water, waiting to be discovered! The purple of a winter evening's twilight is softly reflected in the fast moving waters of the St. Lawrence River, Montreal, Canada. Ripples of sand on the top crest of a coastal dune in Namibia catch the last light of day, while wind blown sand further down glows golden as it is lifted into the light. A harmonious interplay of lines, shape, textures and tones, as the first light of day touches the ridge lines of a coastal dune. It was mesmerizing to see how the scene transformed as the light crept into the shadows. For a short lived moment, the soft light of the morning sun draws beautiful, dreamy bands of satin across the tips of these otherwise inconspicuous dunes in Namibia's mesmerizing Sossusvlei region.

related, when the president is invading our own country, waging war on our own people, i don't wanna see dems give the GOP shit they ask for, don't wanna hear shit bout 'we hope our friends across the aisle will work with us on bipartisan solutions to the problems they cause' i don't want none of it

Look. Invading our own country is about as straightforward a case as you can have for impeachment. The GOP abandoning the Constitution is kind of the only story there is and it gets no coverage.

Guys. I just had a crazy idea. What if the President DIDN’T deploy troops in American cities. Just a thought. Have we tried that before?

View into the rear parking access of three homes. A tree with bright red leaves stands between two of the homes. As seen from an angle, the front entrance of a grey-painted brick home with green accents. A bicycle is locked to the railing of the front stoop. Blue 1960s Ford Mustang parked at the side of a road in a residential area. Pumpkins for sale outside of a grocery store in an urban area. I *love* making photos of these pumpkins every year, so there will be more photos like this one to come.

Some views of the Melbourne CBD 🌇

📸 Ricoh 500g

#Naarm #Melbourne #believeinfilm #filmphotography #filmisnotdead
Looking up at a city skyline from street level. In the foreground is a sculpture made of wooden pallets. Festival lights are strung over menu boards of a food truck, which is just out of view.
The sky is bright with white fluffy clouds. Looking at a historic traffic bridge with a tram crossing over it. In the background are tall office buildings and the peak of an old church. The sky is cloudy and grey. The Yarra River flows under the bridge in the foreground. Looking down a pedestrian walkway at the Queen Victoria Markets (QVM) and the tall buildings of the CBD loom on the background against a bright sky. Pedestrians walk at the crossing in front of the Flinders Street historic train station building. The sun is bright and high and casts short shadows.

Few things epitomize the Go Hard AF On Everything architectural ethos of the 1920s more than this tiny train station doing the absolute most in Beverly Shores, Indiana.

Architect: Arthur Gerber, 1929
Color photo of the station side of the building taken from across the tracks. Two orange multilight doors are centered between three sets of tall, multilight windows. On top of a red tile roof is an incredible vintage neon sign that has the words Beverly Shores in a white cursive font on a dark blue background. Color photo of a many gabled, one story Spanish Revival building clad in a thick and revolting stucco that can only be described as vomit chunk pink. In an attempt to distract us from this, the building has been given a complicated roofline complete with an adorable little gabled chimney with its own mini roof of red tile. Arches are everywhere: the entrance porch, the door, several different types of windows and also cut into the chimney. Detail of the only set of non-arched windows on the front elevation. Sitting under the red tiled roof are three narrow little rectangles, each with three lights arranged vertically and set into a wall that someone has just vomited pink stucco all over. Color detail of the adorable little gabled chimney taken from an angle and showing off its wee tiled roof, the arches cut into it and the complicated roofline it rises from. The vomit pink stucco looks especially revolting here as the light scatters off of it in chunky bits.

had to read the article to understand wtf was going on here which is that Meta is literally feeding Instagram pictures parents took of their teenage daughters to middle aged men as ads for Threads
faineg.bsky.social
“Meta has used back-to-school pictures of schoolgirls to advertise one of its social media platforms to a 37-year-old man, in a move parents described as “outrageous” and “upsetting.”

Meta has 100% stopped even *pretending* not to be astoundingly evil.

As usual with this issue, Harris is calling for a compromise that already exists. Every sporting body has standards for how long athletes must be on hormones before they can compete as women.

The problem isn’t that we’re ignoring ‘reasonable concerns,’ the problem is that republicans are lying.
I agree with the concerns expressed by
parents and players that we have to take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and unfair student athletic advantage when we determine who plays on which teams, especially in contact sports,, Harris writes. "With goodwill and common sense, I believe we can come up with ways to do this, without vilifying and demonizing children."

Demolition of the Cincinnati Mills complex - closed since 2022 - began this week. A mall that only saw brief, mid-life prosperity between opening in 1988 as the upscale Forest Fair Mall which immediately failed; and prolonged, near-total vacancy in its waning years.

Photograph. A heavily stylized gazebo structure in the central atrium of a dead, enclosed, bilevel shopping mall. There are flying pig statues surrounding the structure and oversized leaf sculptures suspended from the ceiling. The architecture reflects a gaudy Y2K-era renovation completed in 2004.

The last political column I was allowed to write in the @washingtonpost.com was a criticism of Obama.

His people took issue with my piece, but we were respectful.

Now he is tweeting in support of me.

This is how free political speech and respect for debate *actually works*.

Or used to work.
Tweet From Obama mentioning my firing from the Washington post. Wirh a photo of me

Call me radical, but I think we *don't* need to have polite chats with racists who are spewing conspiracy theories that keep motivating white supremacists to massacre our fellow citizens, and we *don't* need to have bipartisan deals with fascists trying to destroy our democracy and our government.

If you have opportunities to get out and do things with others, jump at the opportunity: meetings, classes, social events, etc... Get out and be with other people. It's essential. If virtual is more convenient, then take advantage of those opportunities to be with other people.
