Sure there are a million factors towards all this - social attention, AI shortcutting, University capitulation and other signs of contempt of students, helicoptering - but the absolute massive red siren is that there just aren't jobs waiting for grads.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

This realization came way too late in my life. but I will note that when you encounter this sort of person pointing out this difference between you and them sure shuts them up.
One of the biggest shocks of my adult life was realizing there's a hidden division in society between people who think certain acts - cruelty, torture, murder - are inherently wrong, versus the majority of people who think there are no wrong actions, just incorrect targets.

A thing that I think holds a lot of Star Wars stuff back is a thing that also shows up when you run ttrpg campaigns in established worlds, where there’s just so much already established background bullshit that you feel beholden to, that you never really get to go balls to the wall with something.
I don’t have a Star Wars take, really. The universe brings a lot of joy to people, so that’s a good thing. I suspect even arguing about whether the media is good or not is a kind of joy too? At least for some.
