The thing that jumps out to me here is that the article says the doctor’s *colleague* went looking for the fake studies.

It suggests the doctor who used ChatGPT didn’t check for himself and uncritically assumed they were real.

This is my favorite headcanon and it's a great example of how readers can offer a different reading of a text that the author never considered and did not intend, but is nonetheless validated by the text itself.
A shitpost so great Billy Joel actually heard about it

Look, after what happened on CBS tonight + Semafor's reporting about NYT and WaPo?

I'm putting this out there again. Publishing friends, so many of you have been so great about this - I'd appreciate another boost.

Because I'm worried. 😕
Also: I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Publishing, let me write a media literacy book, I am begging you. I keep being told that there's no appetite for this...

But how can there NOT be, when it's an urgent and pressing issue, especially with how we aggregate news + use of AI?

I like Storygraph but it continues to bug me that it lists "graphic novel" as a genre instead of correctly labeling it a FORMAT.

The escape of the 3-foot, gray-haired marsupial has sparked a growing search, with neighbors reporting alleged sightings.
A 3-year-old wallaby named Rex has gone missing in NJ. The search for him is on.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller???
According to my Storygraph I've read 74 books so far this year, although I'm not perfect about logging so I may have missed a few. Anyway these are my highlights, what are yours?

A significant amount of safety research has existed for decades on Human Machine Interfaces proving exactly this. It's exhausting to watch money and effort wasted in a tech hype cycle to constantly undo and redo what we already know in safety engineering.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

But romance is so good because the best authors can absolutely destroy you and you're so sure things will never be okay again and then they are every time.

This is why I read all the dark & murdery romance. 😍

(emotionally)
I have a theory that good stories fall into one of two categories: hollow you out (emotionally) or fill you up.

And I low key think that part of the allure of Heated Rivalry is it hollows you out AND fills you up.

I AM TALKING EMOTIONALLY

Okay, so at the request of the lovely @trance.bsky.social , I'm going to tell a story about what happens when a shitty person is "just joking", and then discovers there are consequences.

I'm unfamiliar with ONE but some of my personal favorite comic artists include Allie Brosh (Hyperbole and A Half), Amber Dusick (Parenting: Illustrated with Crappy Pictures) and Randall Munroe (xkcd); IMO this thread applies to the 3 of them as well. Their art perfectly suits their stories.
Honestly, the work of ONE might be one of THE most powerful counters to AI boosterism bullshit.

This guy is one of the more popular modern comic artists, he has millions of people following his stories. And he did it with art that looks like THAT.

I gave 5 stars to 3 memoirs in 2025. Monstrous is in graphic novel format and I read it on paper. I listened to audiobook CDs for Educated and I'm Glad My Mom Died. The latter is also read by the author, which I really appreciate for memoirs. I borrowed all three from the public library.
