“It’s meant to disrespect women generally you see, not just athletes”
Sex toys are being hurled on the court at WNBA games. A cryptocurrency group says they're behind it – and planning for more.

The group says the acts are "pranks" intended to draw attention to their crypto meme coin and not meant to disrespect women athletes.

I do wonder how much of this is DEI and identity politics vs. consumer costs. If you're worried prices are about to go up, shifting your spending to bulk goods is hugely rational behavior.
The divergence here from two companies with *very* similar customer bases is pretty wild, you do not see this sort of thing happen at scale very often.

It literally became a national cemetery *because of the Civil War.

We're not a serious country. Or, more accurately, this isn't a serious government
Arlington National Cemetery has scrubbed information about prominent Black, Hispanic and female service members and topics such as the Civil War from its website, part of an effort across the Defense Department to remove all references to diversity, equity and inclusion from its online presence.

this is the "merit" two-step. first, you strongly imply or state outright that the presence of anyone who isn't a straight, able-bodied white man is unfair "DEI," then you argue that just because an institution is all-male and lily-white doesn't mean there is discrimination. that's just merit!
