Yes, I think this is the thing. Trump is/was the cult leader that enabled the process, but he will not be needed once the full authoritarian regime is in place and then he will be disposed of. There will be future elections but the strong opposition will be jailed or "vanished".
Trump is merely the enabler, long term Vance will be the CEO of America. Tech bros will take the Board, Strategy and IT dept. Christian right the HR and people dept. Wall Street the Finance dept and MAGA in charge of security. Of course exaggerated and not complete, but that's not the point.
