I remember the phrase "they can't be allowed to melt back into society" re: the de-Baathification of Iraq after the war there. Like everything about that experience, the attempt was cynical, stupid, and botched. But there really should be a plan about what we do with guys like these in the future.

Heads up to artists still using Twitter- Twitter is now adding an "Edit image" button under all images posted on the site that allows everyone to feed it into genAI and modify it as they wish with a prompt

I do sometimes consider breaking my no-contact with my dad, but then I remember this and how he & family reacted to BLM marches and think there's not much for me to gain there so I don't bother.
- another guy said "yeah when I see those I shoot holes in those." I was pretty disgusted and said as much, thinking for some reason my dad would be disgusted too. He was fully on board! Said it'd be better if he just shot the desert travelers himself, directly. Permanently changed how I view him.
