NEWS: Judge Amir Ali finds that the Trump administration is likely violating separation of powers in partially granting a preliminary injunction in the State Department/USAID foreign aid case. As with the TRO, he also finds the government is likely violating the APA with the non-payment issues.

There isn't the "fraud, waste, and abuse" in most government programs that these jerks keep saying there is.

However, and for the record, we should create programs that err on the side of everyone who needs help getting help even if it means some so-called "undeserving" person also takes advantage.

Hey, @kenwhite.bsky.social, we're going to send all our drug dealers out that way.

Meh. Use whatever laws you have in Mexico to make them label it correctly there or try to ban them if they don't change it everywhere and see how that goes.

Are Wickard v Filbun and Gonzales v. Raich and, you know, general commerce clause jurisprudence, at any risk of being pulled back?

Important thoughts to be thinking...
Behold: My unified Terminator Theory of parenting through the Trump Era into the apocalypse he has created for our children.

...I'm serious you guys, I wrote a whole thing on parenting through this nightmare.

Parenting In the Age of Trump
Like Sarah Connor, the heroine of the Terminator movies, Elie Mystal is trying to figure out how to prepare his children for the dystopian future.

Dug this out of my dresser. Although I'm no longer sure it's accurate; i don't know what the primary policy goals here actually are.

/2 Winds are strong in the foothills of the San Gabriels at the edge of the Angeles National Forrest. One year they blew our front doors open, tearing the deadbolt through wood. This year they have scattered the precious detritus of lives, of the history of people, across the area of the Eaton fire.

I think it is absolutely fair and appropriate to identify these lawyers and shun them from decent society.
always interesting to see what kinds of folks are signing off on these attacks on the Constitution

To be fair, many of the teachings of Jesus as set out in the bible are still radical today and wildly inconsistent with the policy preferences of folks like Johnson. Whether "his own religion," whatever its called, has much connection to the biblical Jesus is, I suppose, a good question.
She said, “May I ask you to have mercy Mr. President on those in our communities whose children fear that their parents will be taken away." If Mike Johnson thinks that’s “radical,” perhaps he has a fundamental misunderstanding of his own religion.

I think what’s going on here that these people are trying to find some true binary relating to biological sex. Genital morphology won’t do it. Sex chromosomes don’t do it. So they’ve retreated to gamete size. I think the use of large and small cell is also a hedge in this direction, not prudishness.

Take this as far back as you like. The maximal consequence is that everyone must show a chain of citizenship or lawful permanent residency at time of birth for every ancestor to the point of immigration.

Like, i just don't care about Iowa.

Winning and losing seemed to mean more back in the day in the Big East.

This isn’t always bad. Just before Trump 1, I spoke to an Obama official who felt confident that they’d be able to continue doing their work because the new Secretary didn’t know or care about it.
