If an MP hears her constituents can’t afford a week in a hotel maybe she should focus on our wages and living standards rather than reassure them she’s trying to stop anyone else getting a stay for free

Today at the Consulate we are flying the flag to celebrate St Olaf's Day. Norway's patron saint is commemorated by this statue in St Magnus Cathedral.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

And we drove a cart to the hill
And we buried the jar of ale in the bog
And our small blades glittered in the dayspring
And we tore dark squares, thick pages

Fabulous start to St Magnus International Festival last night, with Nikita Lukinov and Resol String Quartet in the Cathedral. Then a drive home with the sun still an hour and a half from setting at 9pm. There's no better place to be than Orkney on a midsummer weekend.

Here's a 🎶 twist on Coldplay's thumping #VivaLaVida we're calling "Puppets on a Kremlin String?"

It reflects on the grotesque media spectacle hosted by #Trump & #Vance yesterday at the White House. In solidarity with Zelensky & Ukraine.
